DEVELOPMENT
BOYS PATHWAY
13 – 17 yR OLDs
EHNA is committed to creating meaningful netball opportunities for boys and ensuring they feel welcomed, supported and valued within our development program.
Up to 12 years of age, boys can participate in EHNA Academy and High Performance program alongside girls.
From 13 years and older, Netball WA regulations require boys to compete in all-boys teams. At this stage, boys from this age cannot participate in mixed or girls’ teams.
To ensure boys can continue playing and developing, there are no trials for boys within the EHNA development program. Our focus is on participation, development and opportunity rather than selection.
We acknowledge that building numbers for boys teams can be challenging. Where numbers allow, EHNA will enter an all-boys team. If numbers are limited, the priority remains keeping boys active and involved in netball.
HOW THE PATHWAY WORKS (13+ YEARS)
-
Where numbers allow, EHNA will enter an all-boys team with boys training as a team.
If numbers are limited, athletes may:
-
Train with the EHNA girls development squads, and
-
Be placed into all-boys teams with neighbouring associations for competition opportunities
Training arrangements are flexible, with the aim of maximising game time and development.
Our goal is simple: to keep boys playing netball, gaining experience at long weekend carnivals while we continue to grow participation and establish stronger boys competitions within EHNA.
